Breaking down walls with Carli

Hi Everyone!

I thought I would jump on here to share some more about myself not only as an artist but as HUMAN BEING. Because sometimes we forget we are human first! So let’s take a little deep dive into four facts/insights about me, Carli ☺

1. I used to be SUPER shy:

Growing up I definitely related to my Cancer star sign and would hide behind my Mum everywhere we would go.

Taking on dancing and singing 110% built up my confidence (as well as be-friending other artists that inspired me and had big personalities to live up to HA!) Some people say that your alter ego comes out when you perform, and I agree, BUT I also believe that the “alter ego” can be the TRUE version of you.
Every time I have stepped out of my comfort zone it has allowed me to grow, learn things about myself, and become confident in who I am. This can come is so many forms for you too; learning in the gym, starting a new job, reaching for an opportunity that you may be scared of; all of these will build that confidence.

I definitely have my shy days still where the introvert in me can hold me back but that is totally ok because we still have work to do!

2. I love all different types of movement!!

Dance is my absolute love and passion of course. I love entertaining others, playing a character, and especially love my theatre jazz and commercial in terms of styles.

But let’s talk allll the kinds of movement I love:

I grew up swimming and playing netball, and more recently have found a love for running and hiking. There’s nothing better than moving outdoors, and I love that you can do so with friends as well as solo! Getting out for a run, swim or walk in the elements for me is basically free therapy!

I decided to start trying the gym out following my high school years, and did not have much clue at all what I was doing, but since learning more and becoming qualified in PT, I can now preach that strength is VITAL to support our bodies and therefore perform better in everything else we do!

I personally love to intertwine strength training with Pilates & yoga for some extra stability, core and flexibility work. If you have no idea where to start with your strength - that is why us trainers are here to help!! Or if you are experienced but looking to level up, look no further!

FUN FACT: you may even sometimes find me on a spin bike! I have professionally worked as an indoor cycling instructor in past years and really admire the cool atmosphere, vibey music and physical push a spin class provides. I think I especially found a love for it because you’re basically doing a dance routine on the bike! Everything I learnt from my time as a spin instructor I can now take into my next coaching chapter.

3. My latest hobby

So I’m just a girl.. and lately I have found a love for finding little op shop pieces and nic nacs! Finding a cool top or bag that you LOVE for only 5-10 dollars?! There is actually no better satisfaction! It almost feels like a challenge to see what you can find and how you can make it work creatively. The fact that everything has a story from its past owner is also super cool.

My favourite places to op shop in Melbourne at the moment are Fitzroy and Brunswick, and I love gaining inspiration from these artsy areas with the colourful streets and trendy locals.

4. My favourite food of all time

Just incase you were wondering… I am acai OBSESSED! And have basically labelled myself as an acai connoisseur at this point. I’ve always been a fruit lover and make a smoothie for breakfast most days, so when I can treat myself to an acai bowl decorated with fruit, granola and a load of peanut butter on top (and enjoy it in the sun) I am at my HAPPIEST. I am yet to try out many places, but some of my favourite spots in Melbs for acai lately are definitely ‘Lovabowl’ in Fitzroy, and Blitz Bar (Malvern & Brighton).

I hope you learnt a little more about me, my friends!!

And I hope we can get to know each other more real soon!

BIG LOVE,

Carli xoxo
