10 Gift Ideas for your Performer Friends

Okay okay so it’s not even December yet but GUYS I am so excited for Christmas. I low key start listening to Christmas music in September (you can judge me - it’s like the 3pm coffee that boosts you through the rest of the day - Michael Bublé boosts me through to the end of the year, okay). SO in order to be super prepped and stress-free come mid-December, here are some Christmas gift ideas for your Performer friends (or a sneaky link you can send to people for YOUR gift ideas).

The list is broken up between different costs so you can look dependent on your budget. Enjoy!!!

3 Gift Ideas $0 - $35

For those people in your life who you love enough (or are obligated enough) to buy a present for, but…. the budget is budgeting.

  1. Steam Inhaler ($19.89)

Pretty much all cast and crew (all HUMANS) use their voice! This is a fun, unusual and practical present for those who like looking after their voice (or use their voice a lot, or LOSE their voice a lot… your options are endless).

2. Guitar Spoons

I don’t care if your friend plays the guitar or not, you can’t tell me these aren’t so cute. My brother-in-law is a guitarist, so I’ve been eye-ing off these spoons for literally about two years. Options:

3. Pick Cutter ($31.43)

Okay this is fun, too - cut picks out anything, anywhere?! um, yes please. Personally, this is useless to me, but hey, someone in your life who plays guitar could be very excited by this! Who knew this was a thing!

5 Gift Ideas $35 - $75

For those want to be wise at Christmas and not come out on the other side in debt, lol. Or, who are so lovely that you buy presents for most of your friends and just don’t want to break bank on everyone.

1. A Personalized Soundwave Print !! ($44.95)

Okay this is super cute! Whether it’s a classic, a favorite, or a belty-musical theatre track (Hello, Defying Gravity omg stop I want it) this would be such a fun and thoughtful present. Beware, I found this in a trusty google search, I have never bought from this company, but they seem legit?!

2. A Custom Vinyl Lyrics Print !!! ($20- to $72- pending size)

Stop omg okay I love these! Similar to the above, but now I can’t choose which I love more. You can select the size of the poster you want, and the A1 goes up to $71.61- Literally such a great present for anyone who has a particular life-long-song-obsession, or someone you have an ‘our song’ with. Ugh, CUTE.

3. The book The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin ($49.99)

I was in a Barnes & Nobel at The Grove last year and picked up this book when it caught my eye; a staff member walked past me and she said “That’s possibly the best, most inspiring book I’ve ever read” and it’s been on my ‘I should read that!’ radar ever since. I didn’t buy it that day (lol sorry, I had ONE suitcase that already had 7 books in it…. I know…) but off her recommendation, I HIGHLY recommend. It’s $49.99 at the link above, and price various pending who you buy through so have a google and see if it might be a good fit - not everyone enjoys books, so choose wisely.. lol.

4. A Pair of Loop Earplugs ($49.95)

These are fun! I low key (not really low key, pretty high key lol) have hearing damage because of 8+ years singing on stage too close to a drum kit (hi church life), so these are actually so cute. Obviously you can’t wear them at the same time as your in-ears, but just in general these are CUTE and protect your ears, particularly for something like a choir where you don’t have in ears but still stand close to something loud lol - or rehearsals, concerts, boring meetings (ok maybe not) but guys, you NEED your ears. Don’t be like me. I haven’t worn these on stage so not sure how effective, helpful, intrusive, dizzying or distracting these are, but hey, I might try them out.

*Not me sending this list to everyone I know because I’ve already talked myself into wanting everything on this list*

5. The book The Artists Way by Julia Cameron ($39.99-$44.99)

If you haven’t already read this book, you simply MUST my friend (I mean: buy it as a gift cause that is what this list is all about; I got distracted). We went through this book as a class when I studied Screen Acting at the Film & Television Studio International and I still apply things I learnt from that book DAILY, and that was literally 13 years ago. There are toe versions available at Dymocks, two different prices - I have no idea what the difference is except for maybe the cover? I’m sure they’ll tell you the difference at the store (maybe one is a workbook, too? I had the one linked above).

2 Gift Idea for $120 +

Hey big spender! I was originally going to add a few more to this list, but then I realized if you’re spending upwards of $120- on this person it’s rather likely you have a specific present in mind, or love them enough to not need a list of inspiration, lol! Honestly.

  1. A Masterclass Subscription

This is a pretty great idea, though! My sister and I gifted each other a one year Masterclass subscription a few years ago and it was such a great gift - you literally learn SO much (Petra’s MasterClass on Photography is literally what started my interest in shooting Headshots). There are thousands of lessons and SO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM. I could not recommend this more as a gift idea for someone creative!

They also have a “Pre-Black Friday" 50% off” Sale!!! So, why not get it for YOU, too! (If you haven’t had a subscription in the past, honestly; SO fun. If needed, cancel Netflix or any other streaming service and stream this for the year instead lol, you’ll have a strong, INSPIRED 2025, I promise you that!

2. There’s also Dance MasterClass Subscription -

- for any dancers in your life, too. It’s similar to the above but, obvs, solely dance. It says its suitable for beginners to advanced, so follow the link and see if it could suit :)

Well, I hope this list was helpful for you or at least inspired you in the right direction for some people you were a little stuck on (or literally hadn’t even started thinking about yet)!!

Happy Friday and if you’re not into the classic Christmas music (at least not yet) - check out “CHRISTMAS LOFI 2024” on Spotify - might help you get into the Christmas mood with a little more chill.

Xx
